Job Title: Real Estate Paralegal
Reports to: Practice Group Leader and Director of Administration
FLSA Class: Non-Exempt

Job Description

Gammage & Burnham, a Phoenix-based midsize firm with a highly regarded real estate, has an excellent opportunity for a Real Estate Paralegal. We are experts on a broad range of real estate matters, such as acquisitions and dispositions of real property, planning for and developing homebuilder projects, retail shopping centers, office buildings, master-planned communities, multifamily projects, and industrial parks.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist attorneys with all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and financing.
• Coordinate transaction closings, including preparing closing checklists, reviewing settlement statements, and organizing closing documents.
• Draft and review legal documents, such as deeds, leases, purchase agreements, and closing documents.
• Conduct title searches, review title commitments, and analyze exceptions and surveys.
• Obtain and review zoning reports, property tax records, and other relevant property information.
• Analyze legal descriptions to identify boundaries, encroachments, easements and other matters affecting the client’s property interests.
• Conduct research, using a variety of online resources to identify property, property ownership, legal descriptions, condition of title, and possible title defects.
• Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, lenders, title companies, and other parties involved in transactions.
• Prepare closing letters, closing binders, closing checklists and deadline memoranda.
• Case management and manage electronic files.
• Calendar events, tasks, and deadlines.
• Scheduling appointments.
• Other special projects.
• Meet annual billable goal (1400 hours)

Required Qualifications:
• Certificate from accredited paralegal training program preferred. Significant real estate paralegal experience may substitute for the paralegal certificate.
• Five (5) or more years of past law firm experience and ability to demonstrate knowledge of complex issues within corporate and real estate practice areas.
• Advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities while delivering consistent, quality work-product to both attorneys and clients.
• Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
• Ability to adapt to fluctuations in workload and changes in responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Keen attention to detail and maintaining organization.
• Punctual and dependable.
